ABBEY'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!~August 20th

She wanted to walk into school her self. I had decided I would just drop her off. (Trust me the system is safe-we drop off in a roller coaster style line and there is someone to see them in). But when I got there and let her out I got so sad. Plus I saw 2 of my best girlfriends walking there 1st graders in. SO we parked and walked in the main entrance to peek in on her class. I had to carry Cam and rush Em through the already crowded halls. We turned the corner to video tape Ab and snap some hidden pictures and BAM I ran into her. I have NO idea how she happened to be at the coat rack talking to some other kids at the same time as me. Her reaction was not what I wanted seared on my mind the rest of my life. I would have been better off remembering her smily face outside. She said in a hushed tone, "WHY did you come in here?". I told her to be nice and that I was sorry I did not respect her wishes. But what child does not get sad on the first day of school but rather ENJOYS it?? MINE. Ok so I should be happy and I sort of was, (even w/my friends looking on at the horrid scene) until I GOT IN TROUBLE BY THE TEACHER!!!. Oh, what a day.
Yea, Yea.. I got repremanded the first day of school. Ab goes to a private christian school and her outfit wasn't within the dress code. I 'made' her wear that dress the first day. She wanted to wear a hot pink t-shirt and I begged her to wear a dress, this is the one we agreed on.
Then... I began to feel uncomfortable about my own outfit, I did have on shorts that hadn't seemed so short before I entered the school building. Combinded w/a tank of my own and a pair of high heels. It was a scene right out of the "Gilmore Girls". Yep. the exact one. If you've seen it you completely understand.
Abbey started using her own alarm clock this year. (I had planned on posting a pic of it w/ a post) We practiced the 2 days before school started. On mon. it was set for 7:00. I went in to turn it off when I heard it and she was lying in bed wide awake. She squeeled at the sound. "MOM I have been up since 6:05 waiting for my alarm to go off". So cute!! This day was no different. She was ready so early I let her watch a cartoon so that it would take her mind off her butterflies.
I hid a picture of our family in her lunch box for her first FULL day of school. I wasn't sure of what her reaction would be. But she LOOVED it and Thanked me. She even asked me to put a surprise in every day. I have been writing little notes.
LOVE IT! I helped her pick the colors of her backpack and lunch box. Then I monogramed them as a surprise to her. So fun!

SO SAD!

We went straight over to Beth's house for the day. It was so weird not picking Ab up at 11:30 but rather 3:00. I had to fill my time up w/B so that I wouldn't end up depressed. Emme's friend Jackson.
She let me try a new hairstyle.
:( Our Errands WITH OUT ABBEY! I have always had my kids at home! We never did pre-school. I did all homeschool curriculum w/ Ab. I even had the privelage of teaching her to read early on. SO I reluctantly sent her off to Kindergarten. I enjoy the school and all it's opportunities not just for Abbey but for me as well. Though I often find my mind wandering to dreams of home-schooling. I would not be surprised of this took place at some time in our future. I LOOVEE TEACHING my children. It is a Huge responsiblity yet also A BIG HONOR. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Okay?? loving homework?? Yep!
She is the ONLY girl to play soccer on the playground and she is so proud of having mostly boy friends. (aka:Tomboy)

I'm so jealous of all your first day of school pics. I completely forgot (again, happened last year too. We fianlly got them taken sometime in Sept.)well, now my camera is broke, so when I get around to taking a back-to-school pic (no longer a first day pic) I'll have to clear the pumpkins off the porch!!!
