Sleep-over Surprise!

Abbey had been extremely sick from Valentines until about the end of February. The other 2 girls were sick as well but Abs had been hit hard. I wanted to cheer her up. She, just like me, loves surprises. I planned for Grant and Jackson to spend the night on Friday, the 27th. Only Ab and Em knew nothing about it. Grant and Jack said they would only spend the night if they could bring their own sleeping bags and have a camp-out. Mike was working late so I had everything set up before they arrived. I made pizza and chocolate chip cookies from scratch. At 630 someone knocked on the door and the girls came running. They weren't very surprised. Apparently Em had overheard me tell Mike my plans earlier in the afternoon. Abs reaction was, "oh". When I asked if she was super excited she said, "yea". Oh she so has my personality! I knew deep down she was thrilled. Deep, deep down.

I had spent all day Friday at Junes and she told me of their Saturday morning tradition. Waffles, no big deal. But in their family, a tradition passed down from Chad's side, they don't top the waffles with syrup but rather vanilla ice-cream. When I heard this a light bulb went on in my mind. Oh the kids will SO love me. And sure enough breakfast was a hit at our house. "ICE CREAM for BREAKFAST?" "We never get this!!" "AWESOME". Did I mention the waffles were from scratch as well??

Grant said, "I love coming to your house Abbey". Oh stop. (More please, more:) Maybe just maybe it has to do with the fact that we pigged out on junk food all night and day, played computer, watched movies and built no less than 3 forts?? Maybe??

When I was taking the boys home Saturday afternoon noon Grant looked at me and said, "Des thanks for having me over, I had a lot of fun".

As tired as I was at that very moment. . . . It was all worth it!!!
