Ok Aunt Joanne, You really need to start your own blog:). You definitely have a voice to share.
In case my comment was misconstrued and even if it wasn't, I would like to share my thoughts. I was planning this as my comeback post anyway. (Wait-Katie how many comebacks do we get:)
32 flies
25 bees or so and 1 active hive
2 birds nests w/babies in them
1 wandering cat
---------------
60 unwelcome creatures
Where you might ask? In my NEW HOUSE.
YES! You heard that right!!!
I caught my last fly this morning, think we successfully removed the hive from one of our heating vents and still have to deconstruct 2 birds nests currently w/out residents.
I am a recovering, over the top, germ-a-phobic. Recovering is the word, but you can imagine my aversion to animals. It's not that I don't appreciate them. I do.
I think we serve an omnipotent and powerful God, not to mention CREATIVE. All those awe-inducing details on the outside and intricate workings on the inside. The size alone is enough to shock. Mind blowing.
A lot of animals are strikingly beautiful to marvel over. But, in my case from afar. I just can't handle the dirt and bodily fluids. I love to take Ab, Em & Cam to the zoo. But I can only handle smells and dirt for so long. I have even taught my girls a number of skills, that to other moms just seem tedious and painstaking. But guess who potty-trained my children so far? That's right! NOT ME. I have no shame.
I designed each one of our bathrooms to house a window in order to release odors. I know, extreme is what you are thinking. But this is me, resolving to not let germs real or imagined, control me.
With, yes, a bit of divine intervention in my case.
So now you can understand my love/struggle relationship with animals, bugs, sea life and all the likes thereof. And my astonishment on the day we moved in to our new home and I felt like Mrs. Noah. As for the cat, well, we found out she is senile, old, almost blind and belongs to the neighbor boy. But I'll leave it to your imaginations as to what she left for us as a housewarming gift.
W/Love,
Des
