These were taken the day after Thanksgiving. Ab & Em had spent the night at the S. together so Mike and I decided to take Cam on her first real date w/us alone. It was so fun. We bought the girls' Christmas gifts. Cam of course didn't realize what was happening and we were glad she was to young to spill the surprise. Then we took her to P*anera's because us girls love to go there and daddy never does. He took us because he knew Cam would love it. Then we took all three girls to the movies to see B*olt. We had a great day.

Cam looks up to Em so much. It is like a chain reaction. Ab to me, Em to Ab, Cam to Em. The girls love to tell me I look up to Mike and he looks up to God.
Anyhow, Cam was in phase where she had to bring her Bible EVERYwhere w/us. Even shopping and to P's.
(Wait till I show you our current phase:)

What have I been up to, you ask???
Well we moved in late October, then I hosted Aunt Karen, then Thanksgiving was had at my house, then the girls' church and school plays, then my parents came for almost 2 weeks, then we had Christmas Eve here, then spur of the moment on New years Eve we decided to take a mini-family vacation to South Carolina, then.....
Let's take a minute to catch our breaths together...Ahhhhh.
I am now trying to catch up with some good friends. I feel like last year was so crazy my head is still spinning. So I have hosted a few fun tea parties for my girl friends. And I have let my older girls catch up w/ their good friends. Abbey went to Grant's for a sleepover, (check out Beth's blog) and Emme went to Mckenzie's for the night and to celebrate her 4th birthday. We are spending as much time with them as we can before they leave us:(
Mike and I also are leaders for our College and Career group at church. We have been teaching and that always takes time to prepare. Not to mention somewhere in here he manages to lead/play on our worship team at church.
Up next... My next home project is my hobby area. I carved out a closet in my new house for just my things. Scrapbook, design projects and my teaching/study books. I wanted to wall paper it and just found out that may be impossible for the walls are textured. I am deciding this week what to do so that on the weekend Mike can install my new desk and cabinets that are on stand-by in the garage. (He doesn't know this yet) But I simply can no longer take my stuff just sitting in our up stairs landing.
I need to give myself time and space. Whenever I move I always want to be unpacked instantly. So in the midst of all the other crazies I have been faithfully sorting, organizing, giving away, throwing away and putting away all of our possessions.
Others keep telling me to give it time but I don't want to. I spent the last few years in limbo and am happy to have a place for everything.
Now... if my garage sale would hurrrry up and get here (it's in May) so I can get rid of all the items in my basement. My next project:)
I must say it was the best time to move though. Right before the snow began. Now that it is snowing I don't mind one bit being stuck inside attacking.
But I have enjoyed keeping up with all of your blogs. Even though I rarely comment.
Hopefully I'll get the last 3 packages from Christmastime off my bedroom floor and to the post office this week. And in case the question was burning in you after clicking on my blog and seeing no new updates, No I have not finished the books on my Shelfari. I know CRAZY....

Thanks for updating us! It's nice to hear about everything that's been going on! Good luck deciding what to do with your hobby area...let me know what you decide (wallpaper...or not...)
not wallpaper!!! that is so 90s.
only haunted hotels still have wallpaper.
Erin,
Actually wallpaper is coming back...you can believe that Des is not going to put out-dated things in she knows what's "in"!
Hey Des, you sound really busy. There is just not enough time in the day or year for everything. Give love to the family for us!
Love you,
Thomas
Wallpaper is not coming back. Wallpaper is tacky. You can't believe everything the CBS Early Show tells you.
Erin,
Sorry but wallpaper IS back in style!!! Any decorator (like mine) will tell you wallpaper in 2009 is the new 90's. Besides, Des has taken lots of decorating classes to know what's in style. Her home is beautiful!!!
Dianne,
There's no need to apologize!! The one who should be apologizing is your decorator. I hope you don't pay her (or him, my bad) a lot.
Erin,
Are you trying to be rude?
I am just curious. I was reading over these comments and I couldn't help but wince. Then again, it's always hard to tell someone's tone from an email.
Ryan
Dear All,
I winced as well. This has really taken me back to those ninth grade MySpace arguments. I always won those, too.
I'll just say it:
The fact of the matter is that we can all decorate our houses any way we want. You don't need my approval; I'll probably never see the house anyway. I was merely sharing my opinion on the World Wide Web, which--oddly enough--is the purpose of blogs. And, as opinions are wont to be, it appears ours are different. I'm sure Desiree's house is beautiful. Not because she knows what's "in," or because she pays someone else to know the latest in decorative style; but because she has clearly dedicated so much of herself and her time to the cause. Is there anything more beautiful in life than one's passion? I have the greatest respect for those who are truly passionate about what they do, whether it be work, devotion, or pastime.
I am consciously articulate; there is nothing more or less to be read into my addressed monologues. They are exactly what they are, assuming my audience is able to differentiate between sarcasm and sincerity.
Respectfully yours,
Erin
Erin,
Well said. There is a lot of truth in your reference to "beauty" and what is "beautiful".
I know feel like I have the correct lenses through which to view your responses. Ninth grade MySpace arguments are never good. : )
Ryan
P.S. I think that I win this argument, though, not you. As I am the last to post. Thank you, thank you.
You also win 400 gay points for entering into an argument about wallpaper.
Touche.
And I will award you 401 Adolescent points for referencing the "points game".
Ryan
Looks like my plan worked! I successfully engaged my "adult" cousin in an adolescent game with me (an adolescent--synonymous with "teenager," fyi).
While we're at it...
You're too kind. I was shooting for 300 at best. Since you have three kids and a house (which is hopefully wallpapered, otherwise you won't have any friends), I feel you've acted excessively adolescent, as opposed to me--an eighteen year old college freshman. Therefore, I award you 402 adolescent points. 12 lame-o points for use of the word touche in response to my questioning of your sexuality. 600 more gay points because I'm having a fabulous day. AND, 64 are-you-kidding-me? points.
